Until 12 May 2016, the Palerang Local Government Area (LGA) was located in SE New South Wales. The map below illustrates the extent of Palerang and the localities therein.

On 12 May 2016, the Palerang and Queanbeyan City LGAs were amalgamated to form the Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional LGA.
